USA Today just called for an interview...

.... I guess it's not all over yet. For those of you who read USA Today, look for an article sometime next week from Kathy Chu about the credit card issues.

An Update to my post earier about the credit card fees

Seems all the publicity (and the fact that other retailers started following suit) has done something. Visa announced yesterday that they will be lowering their interchange fees and capping the amount they will charge. WOW!!!!

Change CAN be made ya know.. :)

Handheld remotes for Car stereos...

.... HOW FLIPPIN STUPID IS THAT????

Finished upa job on a vette today, i look over in the passenger seat when I start the test drive and notice that the car stereo has a remote for it...

Can ANYONE tell me why a VETTE needs a remote?? Even if someone was plastered into the insode of the back window they could STILL EASILY reach the controls of the audio system.

Just another device (toy) to take the drivers attention away from road!

The Fox Business News Live Broadcast

Well... I think the peak has come and gone in regards to the Credit Card story that our station was thrust in the middle of. Just got back from a satellite interview on Fox Business News where I told an even bigger audience about how a small shop like ours cannot make a profit on gas when using the major credit cards.

It's old news now and I doubt that any more will come of it, it would really surprise me if it does. :)

What a week

Well, my hopes for this blog were to chronicle a day to day existance.. This past week has been a whirlwind to say the least so here's a recap...

Last week a customer who was also a photographer for the local paper here took a picture of a sign we have on our gas pumps where we explain that we no longer accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, ect for gas purchases. Because of the fees imposed and the pennies on the gallon profit margins we could not make any money on a sale and in a lot of cases would lose money to the tune of 1-2 dollars per transaction. Can't very well justify selling with cash flow like that ya know... Well....
On the 16th, Monday morning an article appeared in that newspapers website.. top story and then the Associated Press print, Associated Press Radio, The WV State Journal, CNN, and everybody was calling wanting interviews. The 3 local TV stations all came down and it was an interesting day.
Well.. the TV news ran the story for 2 days as the AP Radio put it out all over the nation. In yesterday's morning paper here I find that the AP print article was published... FRONT PAGE witha pic of me on the continuation page.
AOL news

I receieved 5 phone calls from all over the country from retailers asking how we did it, how it's working out and for the most part supporting our move and wishing the best.

I don't think the ride is over yet though....

While I'm Thinkin' Bout It!!....

..... You should be listenin to THE BLUEGRASS MIX!!

Some Customers....

REALLY REALLY get on my nerves...
This has been eating at me for several days now so I figure the best way to quit thinking about it is to put it down....

VERY hot muggy day 3 days ago, VERY VERY busy, and at the end of the day we still had 6 cars to work on so needless to say a good start on the next day's work in place. A customer pulls up in a mustang and from the color of the sticker that I could see on her windshield I was betting that the person was wanting an inspection.
Now bear in mind that we already had cars lined up into tomorrow...
The lady gets out of the car, dressed to kill, makeup and all just perfect, actually a little too perfect. And absolute knockout by most standards. She comes into the office and states that she needed a safety inspection. It had expired 4 months ago and she had gotten a ticket (go figure)
I related that if she wanted to leave her car for the next day that we could get it most likely by noon. Well that was NOT gonna do for her at all, she needed it NOW! and kinda got huffy and then pouty about it.
Immediately the thoughts went thru my head that we had a SPOILED brat of a lady who was used to getting HER way and for those weak minded men who think with the wrong head she may have gotten by with it.

The way I see it, she had a TOTAL of 5 months to get her sticker prior to getting her ticket, the month is was due and all the ones since. Since she got the ticket it was evident that her charms did not work on the cop either! :) I respect those guys more now by the way for that!

Couldn't tell you if she got it done anywhere but I will say she did not get it done from me, and HOPEFULLY it humbled her a little although I SERIOUSLY doubt it!
